I don't get those instructions, and so w...45:47<br />I don't get those instructions, and so was unaware of the SORE THUMB thing, but that's great. I knew that some of the answers had letters missing, so I had no real problem solving the grid, but the reason for the missing letters eluded me. I figured that TOMFOOLERY would be mentioned! I immediately thought of Canada with 76A Hockey team with a patriotic name (MAPLELEAFS) just because it was hockey. SUHWEET was fantastic. Nice pair of dog sound clue/answers (ARF/YIPS), and I liked IRONAGE (37A When blacksmithing began), as well as the nice clue for the oft-seen SKORT (30A Garment for tennis, perhaps).
