It took too long for me to get the rebus. Early on, I'd even thought that a rebus had to go into the square at 16A/D, but I couldn't think of [CHIP]PEWA, so I moved on. I got it finally at AR[CHIP]ELAGO. Amusing mistakes made in the SW: "Peru" for OHIO and "sTonER" for ETCHER. Both make sense, but neither fit at all in the grid. Dislikes: EMEERS, ASEC, ICEL, ONI (?). Liked: CONE (nice second "Eye part" clue), PINEAL (ahhhh, things in the brain), OCCAM, and RAWDATA.

ARIZONIAN looks weird, but apparently is acceptable. Oh, and SPYCAR I didn't like either.

It may seem like I didn't like this, but on the whole, I was in favor.Colum Amoryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15026647589873845732noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7869983234842507044.post-82004295388731682502014-10-30T11:54:45.333-04:002014-10-30T11:54:45.333-04:00Right, Nash... we love him. I figured out the rebus after about 2...42:51 (FWTE)
I figured out the rebus after about 20 minutes, but what hung me up was the VERONIQUE/AVOCET/SCARNE crosses. I guessed an "LA" for the beginning of VERONIQUE there, which was wrong. Anyhoo...I starred 21A Milk source (TEAT), which I filled in straight away, as well as both AR[CHIP]ELAGO and ELOCUTE, both mentioned by Horace. PINEAL gland had me fooled until I filled in a couple of crosses. I also enjoyed [CHIP]OTLE because Sue has a coworker that enjoys the place. I expected Horace to mention 39D Like liquor, in an Ogden Nash verse (QUICKER). What happened?!?!Huygenshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14539030936919012404noreply@blogger.com
