And I finished in under 1/2-hour, which isn't desirable for a Sunday to me. I'm glad that you mentioned the meta element; that does bring the puzzle as a whole up a notch. I starred 82D Hit upside the head, in slang (DOPESLAP) because it's funny. I liked the clue, also, for MONTH (6D What the "1" of "1/2" represents).
