What a strange theme today. THETIMEISRIPE is reinterpreted to mean "the clock is dirty" (?) and then CLEANONESCLOCK is taken literally, too. And to achieve it, we are given HANDSOAP and FACEWASH - and there's the fun part - a clock has hands and a face. Har har. I mean... that's cute, but it's a long way to go to get there.

On the other hand, "Pirates' support group?" was a very nice clue for PEGLEGS. "Ways of the world" for ROADS seemed a little... much? And I guess there haven't been very many famous people named RAMON if we have to go back to the 1920s for sex symbol, RAMON Novarro!

DAWDLE (Lollygag) is a nice word. Any mention of ALICE (Wonderland interloper) is ok by me.
